This Privacy Policy explains how Coursera Helper — Quiz Cleaner & AI Solver handles, processes, and protects user information in strict compliance with Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies.

01 Overview & Purpose

Coursera Helper — Quiz Cleaner & AI Solver (the "Extension", "Web App", or "Service") is an educational productivity tool designed to help students clean hidden anti-AI prompt injection traps, automate study progress, and solve quiz assessments directly via Google Gemini AI.

We are committed to respecting and safeguarding your privacy. Our core architectural philosophy is 100% Client-Side Processing.

02 Data We Process & How It Is Used

A. Local API Keys (Zero Server Transmission)

When you enter your Google Gemini API Key, it is stored strictly locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local (for the Extension) or browser localStorage (for the Web App). We never transfer, store, log, or have access to your API keys on any remote server.

B. Web Page Content (Assessment DOM Content)

During active user requests on Coursera (e.g., clicking "Solve Quiz" or "Auto-Skip"), the extension reads question text and associated problem images directly from the active Coursera assessment tab (*.coursera.org). This data is processed in real time and transmitted directly from your browser to the official Google Gemini API endpoint (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) to generate answer suggestions.

C. What We DO NOT Collect

  • NO Personally Identifiable Information (PII): We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, ages, or physical addresses.
  • NO Authentication Credentials: We do not collect or record your Coursera password or login tokens.
  • NO Browsing History: We do not track or monitor your web browsing activity across any websites outside of your active Coursera interaction.
  • NO Financial or Payment Data: We do not collect credit cards, banking details, or payment transaction records.

03 Third-Party Services (Google Gemini API)

To generate educational quiz answers, the extension communicates directly with Google's Generative AI API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) using your provided API key. Data sent includes quiz question text and images for multimodal analysis.

04 Chrome Extension Permissions Justification

In accordance with Chrome Web Store Minimal Permissions policy, our extension requests only essential permissions:

  • storage: Used strictly to save your Gemini API keys, active model preferences, and floating HUD position locally.
  • sidePanel: Used to display the companion side panel interface for manual pasting and settings.
  • activeTab & scripting: Used to inspect the current Coursera assessment DOM when you trigger the quiz solver or video skip.
  • host_permissions (*://*.coursera.org/*, https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com/*): Required to interact with Coursera quiz pages and communicate with Google Gemini API.

05 Single Purpose & Non-Sale of User Data

COMPLIANCE PLEDGE

• We do NOT sell, rent, monetize, or transfer user data to third parties.
• We do NOT use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's core single purpose (educational quiz assistance).
• We do NOT use user data for creditworthiness or lending evaluations.

06 Data Retention & User Control

Since no user data is stored on remote servers, you maintain complete control over your data. You can delete all locally stored API keys and preferences at any time by clearing your browser cache, removing the keys in Extension Settings, or uninstalling the extension.
